Cleaning up after an event is the least glamorous and most dreaded part of any celebration, but it must be done. Most venues have cleaning fees of some sort. Whether it is included in the total price, a required fee, or an optional charge, there are costs involved with cleaning a venue. Today we want to give you a venue’s perspective on why cleaning fees are essential and why they are a part of your event expenses.
What Does a Cleaning Fee Include?
Each venue will have its own system. It’s a good idea to ask your venue how they handle cleaning tasks and what you are responsible for at the end of the night. At Wisteria Gardens, our services include the setup and breakdown of our tables and chairs and the removal of garbage and recycling. We do not charge for those benefits. We do, however, incur costs for the cleaning of surfaces and used spaces. Here is what our cleaning fee covers:
- Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms
- Sweeping and mopping floors
- Sanitizing door handles and light switches
- Cleaning windows on passage doors where fingerprints regularly show up
- Cleaning of bride’s room and groom’s cabin after wedding events
- Cleaning silo floors and doors
Why Wisteria Gardens Requires a Cleaning Fee
We are approaching our fourth year of hosting weddings and other events at Wisteria Gardens. It is our experience that the most efficient and productive way to prepare our venue for our incoming clients is by hiring a professional cleaning service. Our hired team knows the standard of work that we expect and can do their job quickly because they have a routine that is repetitive and thorough.
Most of our clients end their event with tired feet and low energy. Removing decorations and gathering personal belongings is enough to ask. We are glad we can provide this service to our clients so they can spend their time and energy celebrating instead of cleaning. Our cleaning fee is a direct cost from our professional team to our clients.
Why do Venues Charge a Cleaning Fee?
Quick Turnaround
Most venues have multiple events each weekend. Every group should expect an impeccable space for their big day. The cleaning fee ensures that a professional crew is coming in to quickly reset the space in a consistent and thorough manner so every client has the same fantastic experience.
Focus on the Celebration
As mentioned, a cleaning crew comes in after the rental period. When clients attempt to do cleaning themselves, it reduces the amount of time they have for celebrating because the rental access time does not change. That means they must end the event early to have time to complete the cleaning tasks. In addition, as much as your family and friends want to be helpful, at the end of the evening, they are just as tired as you. Give them the opportunity to help in other ways. Paying a cleaning fee lets your guests be guests!
Assurance of Quality
Some venues will charge additional fees if your friends and family do not meet their cleaning requirements. By paying the cleaning fee
you avoid possible unexpected charges as well as any concern that the job gets done correctly. You can simply take your belongings and call it a night!
Final Thoughts
Costs and fees can feel overwhelming, but at the end of the day, a cleaning fee is minimal when you consider how much time and energy it will save you and your loved ones.
Typically a cleaning fee is in the $300-$500 range. Currently, the fee at Wisteria Gardens is $200 for non-wedding events and $300 for wedding events.
Our #1 goal is for our clients, as well as their family & friends, to enjoy their day without extra stress. Our cleaning fee minimizes your responsibilities and maximizes your time spent celebrating.
